2025 Men’s Retreat: Pivoting – Embracing Change

Get ready for a weekend of fellowship, faith, and fun at the 2025 Lord of Life Lutheran Church Men’s Retreat! Hosted by Neal Stockham, this retreat is open to all men (21+) of LOL and their guests, and will be held from July 18-20 at the beautiful Riverside, TX (333 William Thomas Rd, Huntsville, TX 77320).

Theme: Pivoting: Healthy Acceptance of Change

This year’s theme focuses on navigating life’s transitions with grace and strength, fostering a deeper understanding of how to embrace change in our spiritual and personal lives.

Itinerary:

  • Friday, July 18:
    • Arrive anytime after 12:00 PM.
    • Afternoon: Settling in and fellowship.
    • Dinner followed by a poker tournament ($20 buy-in).
  • Saturday, July 19:
    • Breakfast: Bacon, sausage, eggs.
    • 10:00 AM: Friendly skeet shooting competition (bring your own shotgun and ammo, extras available).
    • Bible study before lunch.
    • Afternoon: Lake activities (swimming, boating, lounging).
    • Dinner: Burger night.
    • Evening: Redemption poker ($20 buy-in).
  • Sunday, July 20:
    • Breakfast: Leftovers.
    • Countryside service led by Pastor.
    • Clean-up and departure.

What to Bring:

  • Summer clothes, swimwear, water shoes.
  • Shotgun and shells (optional).
  • Bible.
  • Snacks to share.
  • BYOB.
  • Water, insect repellent (OFF), sunscreen.
  • $20 donation for food.
  • $40 cash for two nights of poker.
  • Camp chair, floats.
  • Personal retreat items.
  • Tent/camping gear (optional), air mattress, cot, etc.

Provided:

  • All meals and bottled water.
  • Plenty of fellowship.

Miscellaneous:

  • The retreat is designed to be flexible; all activities are optional.
  • Opportunities to volunteer with meal prep and clean-up are available.
  • Come for the entire weekend, a day, or a few hours.
  • Limited beds and couches are available (first-come, first-served).
  • Plenty of floor space for air mattresses and tent camping.
  • Electricity is available for tents and campers (extension cords needed).
  • Space for boat/trailer parking.
  • An extra bag or two of ice is always appreciated.
